Olympique de Marseille star Salomon Olembé, who misses out on the FIFA Confederations Cup France 2003 due to a thigh injury, will be replaced in the Cameroon squad by Steaua Bucarest midfielder Nana Falemi.
The 29-year-old Falemi, who was born in Romania to a Cameroonian father and a Romanian mother, plies his trade at the most famous club in Romania, Steaua Bucarest, and has been under scrutiny by the Cameroon scouts for some time. “Fale” is a powerful force in midfield (1,85m, 80 kgs) who likes to get forward and score goals. He has over 100 Romanian first division games under his belt and boasts four Romanian championship winners’ medals (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000). He won his first cap for his country in 2003 at a friendly tournament in Tunis.
