As a mark of respect for Marc-Vivien Foé, the Cameroonian player who died tragically after the FIFA Confederations Cup France 2003 semi-final between Cameroon and Colombia in Lyons on Thursday, all the festivities scheduled to coincide with the Final of the competition this evening have been cancelled.

FIFA has also decided to amend the pre- and post-match ceremonies.

Prior to kick-off, the players from the two teams will join hands, each Cameroon player beside a French one, around the centre circle and a minute of silence will be observed in the memory of Marc-Vivien Foé.

After the match, only the FIFA Confederations Cup trophy and the medals for the players and match officials will be presented on the pitch. Although the winners of the other awards – the adidas Golden Ball, the adidas Golden Shoe and the FIFA Fairplay Award – will be also communicated to the media through and in the Media Centre, trophies will not be presented on the pitch at the Stade de France.
