The Local Organising Committee of the FIFA Confederations Cup Mexico 1999 plans to bring together two footballing legends who have never met but do have one thing in common: former Mexican goalkeeper Antonio Carbajal and Germany's Lothar Matthäus, who captains his team at this competition, are the only two players to have been in five World Cups.

Carbajal played in five subsequent World Cup from 1950 to 1966 with Lothar Matthäus emulating this feat between 1982 and last year's World Cup in France.

The ceremony will take place in the context of Germany's semi-final match or, if the team fails to make it to the knock-out stage, at a private function.
