ZACCHERONI REACTION

"The game was a real rollercoaster of emotions – it had a bit of everything! We had several chances to win it. Both teams played with great courage and skill. My players really gave their all and deserved a lot more than what they got. They did what was asked of them, especially given that they were playing against the runners-up from EURO 2012 and one of the favourites for this tournament. We’re heading back home disappointed, but with our heads held high."

PRANDELLI REACTION

"We went 2-0 down and we did not understand what to do for the first 25 minutes. Then we reacted well but we stopped again - only because we didn’t have any more energy. We lost focus but we were simply struggling and we needed to recover.

Clearly we need to be more organised and pay more attention. I really liked this Italy who could suffer and who wanted to win at any cost."

STICK WITH US
Wow. What an incredible game in Recife. Italy advance and assure Brazil of their place in the semi-finals with a remarkable 4-3 victory. Italy battled back from two goals down to lead 3-2 but were pegged back by a resilient Japan. There were disallowed goals and Japan hit the woodwork in a frenzied finish but Sebastian Giovinco's tap-in from Claudio Marchisio's cross settled matters. Stay with us for video highlights as soon as we get them.
