Raja Casablanca beat El Jadida 2-1 in the penultimate round to seize the Moroccan Botola title and ensure they will represent the host nation at December's FIFA Club World Cup.
To secure their 11th national championship, the Rajaouis had to beat El Jadida at home and hope that FAR Rabat didn't win in their stadium against MAS Fez. The first part of the job was done thanks to Fez, who managed to get a draw 1-1 in Rabat. But Raja had to wait until the last minutes of their game to celebrate.
Zakaria Hadrouf scored the opener for the visitors in Casablanca after 13 minutes, but in the second half, Adil Karrouchi scored the equaliser, before Mouhssine Moutouali offered the victory and the title to his side from the penalty spot at the very last minute. In the all-time ranking, Raja are now just one title behind the rivals of Wydad Casablanca and FAR Rabat, both 12-time champions.
Thanks to this victory, the team coached by Mohamed Fakhir became the fourth team qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013, after Monterrey, Bayern Munich and Auckland City.
It will be the second appearance at this level for Raja, after their participation in the very first edition of the tournament in Brazil in 2000. They had then lost their three group matches against Real Madrid, Corinthians and Al Nassr.
