Adelaide United have moved to within touching distance of a place in the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League with a scoreless draw against Uzbekistan's Bunyodkor.

With one match remaining in the group stages, Adelaide are top of their group with ten points, despite a poor season in the Australian A-League. Adelaide winger Iain Ramsay had the best scoring chances against the Uzbeks but was unable to put the ball in the net.

Ramsay had two good opportunities in the first half, his first shot sailing over the cross bar and his second cleared off the line. Bunyodkor enjoyed their most dangerous period after halftime, with captain Viktor Karpenko and midfielder Lutfulla Turaev each forcing saves from Adelaide goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic within five minutes.

Adelaide, who entered the match with three wins from four ACL matches this campaign, then failed to convert two genuine chances. Defender Iain Fyfe missed a close-range header in the 66th minute before Fabian Barbiero's speculative 15 metre drive deflected off a team-mate and went wide.

Adelaide's final group match is away to Japan's Gamba Osaka in a fortnight.
