A total of well over one thousand media from about 30 countries have been accredited to the first FIFA Club World Championship.

The inaugural eight-team tournament in Brazil has attracted worldwide media interest, especially in the last few weeks.

“There has been a sudden rush for accreditation, which did not altogether surprise us,” said FIFA Communications Director, Keith Cooper. “But unfortunately there is simply no room left for the late-comers, as we have to give our priority to those journalists who met the deadlines in early December.”

The media figures include (all totals approximate) :

  • 660 reporters, including 520 from Brazil and 140 from elsewhere
  • 135 photographers (80 from Brazil, 55 from elsewhere)
  • 430 radio and television commentators, reporters and technicians (300 from Brazil, 130 from elsewhere)

Apart from Brazil, countries represented include Argentina, Chile, Mexico, USA, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Japan, India, Iran, Israel, Morocco, Tunisia, England, Scotland, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Holland, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Yugoslavia and Slovenia.
