With five teams having booked their places in this year’s tournament, many supporters have already started to plan their trips to see their favourite teams in action.  Interest from nations with participating clubs has been high, with many fans already purchasing tickets via the FIFA website.

One of two main gateways to the Emirate is Abu Dhabi International Airport, which is just a six hour flight from many parts of continental Europe and Asia, and is served by over 34 airlines. Alternatively, supporters can arrive in the country via Dubai International Airport, which is only 90 minutes by taxi or rental car.

Once in Abu Dhabi, there will be plenty to see and do for supporters wanting to experience the unique Emirati culture in between the excitement of the tournament. One of the region’s most popular attractions is the world famous Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Grand Mosque, which features 80 domes of white marble as well as being home to the world’s largest hand-woven Persian carpet.

Alternatively, for those with a taste for luxury, the Emirates Palace will not disappoint. It is one of the world’s most magnificent hotels.

Further afield, visitors can take a kayaking trip into the natural mangrove forests in the east Corniche area, try their hands at ‘dune bashing’ on a desert safari, or visit Al Ain, the second largest city within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.  In addition, there are many beautiful beaches and over two hundred islands to be seen, all within a short distance of Abu Dhabi.

Wherever they choose to go, visiting supporters can be guaranteed one thing – the famous hospitality of the Emirati people.
