Kuwait SC have sacked coach Nestor Clausen just days before their AFC Cup quarter-final, second-leg with Arbil.
The decision to part company with the Argentinian came after an urgent executive meeting at the club, and Mohamad Abdulla will take temporary charge for the trip to Iraq. The tie is delicately poised at 1-1.
Clausen only took over on 15 September for the home game with Arbil. Abdulla had previously managed Kuwait SC in the AFC Champions League last year, and is confident he can fill the gap left by Clausen's departure.
"I was with the team during the camp that we had in Switzerland," said Abdulla. "I know everything about the team because I was also one of the members of the technical staff.
"I don't want to talk about the tactics of coach Clausen because each coach has his own view . My main task is to reorganise the players and their positions to employ the best possible formation."
