Al Jazira to represent UAE at Club World Cup

Al Jazira will represent host country United Arab Emirates at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 after they won the 2016/17 Arabian Gulf League title.

Al Jazira clinched the league title two weeks before the final matchday, after defeating Hatta 5-0 in round 24. Ali Mabkhout scored a hat-trick for the Abu Dhabi-based club.

The three points for Al Jazira on the evening, combined with challengers Al Ahli's 2-2 draw with Al Sharjah, meant Al Jazira could no longer be caught.

This is the second time that Al Jazira has won the UAE league title after their triumph in the 2010/2011 season.

It will be the first time that Al Jazira will represent UAE at the FIFA Club World Cup, after Al Ahli and Al Wahda had the honour the previous two times that UAE hosted the tournament in 2009 and 2010.
