Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid coach
We wanted to advance to the Club World Cup final and we were able to achieve just that. In the first half, we were unable to capture the right rhythm, but after the break I thought we played well. We created many opportunities and I’m satisfied with the match. We only have a few days before Sunday and we travelled a long distance to get here, so we want to make sure we’re well-rested. Our goal is to win the Club World Cup. The players are very motivated. The only thing we’re thinking about is winning this tournament.
Ricardo La Volpe, Club America coach
We enjoyed good possession, but we lacked accuracy in our finishing. We could have changed the history of Mexican football by reaching the final, but we can’t change the result. Everybody knows that Real Madrid are a very good team. I felt we controlled the game in the first half but I think we lost focus and concentration and we conceded late on. We pressed Real Madrid but we weren’t able to play our game in the second half. I congratulated the players after the match as they played well, but we weren’t aggressive enough today.
