A venue for major sporting events for more than 30 years, among them the FIFA U-20 World Cup UAE 2003 and the 2009 and 2010 FIFA Club World Cups, the Zayed Sports City International Stadium in Abu Dhabi is all set to stage another FIFA tournament: the Club World Cup UAE 2017.

Opened in 1980 and equipped with an athletics track, this 45,000-capacity stadium forms part of the Zayed Sports City, a sports complex where both the United Arab Emirates Football Association and the national team are based.

The stadium is situated in south-east Abu Dhabi, just 20 minutes from the city centre. Recently refurbished, it provides comfortable and modern facilities for spectators and hosts a wide range of major sporting and cultural events.
