FIFA President Jospeh S. Blatter has written to South African FA President Danny Jordaan to express his condolences following the recent deaths of Andries Maseko and Dr. Leepile Taunyane.

Maseko, 58, died on Saturday morning, while Dr. Taunyane passed away at the age of 85 last week.

Also known as ‘Six Mabone’, Maseko played for Moroka Swallows for 11 years between 1972 and 1983 and also for Washington Diplomats, San Jose Earthquakes and Phoenix Infernos in the USA.

Dr. Taunyane, the Life President of the South African Premier League, began his career in Alexandra as a football administrator in the 1960s and still worked until the days leading up to his death.

The FIFA President described Maseko as “a highly talented football player, and a true South African legend” and Dr. Taunyane as a “legendary football administrator.”

May they rest in peace.
