President sends condolences after Gaga death

FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has written to the Pakistan Football Federation to relay his condolences after the sudden death of former Pakistan international forward Iftikhar Gaga at the age of 58. He was capped by the national team between 1971 and 1979.

"We are saddened to lose such a loyal and committed friend," President Blatter said in a letter to PFF President Makhdoom Syed Saleh Hayat. " Allow me, on behalf of FIFA and the worldwide family of football, to extend our deepest condolences to you, to the entire Pakistan national sports fraternity, and most importantly, to the family of Iftikhar Gaga."

"Please let them know that the football community is standing by their side in this time of sorrow. We hope that in some way, our words of support may help bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness."
