The Netherlands are a truly great side and without doubt the best we have come across here. I have no complaints about their victory. The first half was a thing of beauty.

  • The Netherlands conceded just one goal en route to the 1974 Final. Bulgaria breached their defences in a 4-1 group victory in Dortmund.
  • Dutch striking legend Ruud Gullit once said: “Cruyff's goal against Brazil in 1974 seemed to me like football at its very, very best.”
  • Brazil coach Mario Zagallo was a big fan of ‘Total Football’, claiming it was so special that “even the Dutch could never repeat it”.
