England - Cameroon

Date: 1 July 1990
Stadium: San Paolo Stadium

Few games at the 1990 FIFA World Cup TM captured the imagination like the quarter-final between England, a side inspired by Paul Gascoigne, and Cameroon, a team who had already written their name in the tournament's history books.

I Was There…

Bobby Robson: "Everybody had a bit of sympathy for Cameroon today - I know I did. We got in front with a good goal, a wonderful goal, but at the time they were the better team. And when they went ahead they were the better team. But we pulled it out of the fire."
