Messi and Marta rule 2009
Lionel Messi picked up his first FIFA World Player of the Year prize in 2009 while Marta ruled the women’s side yet again, scooping her fourth award.
The FIFA World Player Trophy was created in 2005 by Pentagram Design Inc. It weights 6.35 kg, is 32.5 cm high and comprised of gold and glass for the winner, silver and glass for the runner-up and bronze and glass for third.
