The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Dubai 2009 is set to take the beach soccer experience from the sands to the malls of the UAE, when it embarks on a fun packed football extravaganza, in the run up to the actual tournament. The events begin in Abu Dhabi this weekend 10-11 october, followed by activities in Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.

This programme of events will appeal to all the family and is one that Deputy Tournament Director Dr. Khalid Mohammed Al Zahed believes will capture the hearts and minds of every age and nationality. "This exciting road show across UAE shopping malls is an indicator of the dynamic showcase to come at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. We are confident that the whole family will enjoy both the on site competitions at our interactive mall venues, where they can test their skills in penalty shootouts and in foosball (table top football) and the excitement of the world cup tournament itself, when they can see the worlds best players battle it out on the beach at Jumeirah and enjoy the many attractions that we will have in the fanzone at the stadium".

The road shod show will travel across the UAE in the run up to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which takes place from the 16th to the 22nd of November 2009. It will challenge members of the public to test their skills with the best performers making it to the final stages of the competitions that will also be held during the World Cup tournament. Kicking off at Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi - October 8, the tour will take in Al Wahda Mall, Abu Dhabi - October 9, Dubai Mall, Dubai - October 16, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai - October 23, Festival City, Dubai - October 30, Sahara Mall, Sharjah - November 6, Mega Mall - Sharjah, November 12 and Al Manar Mall, RAK - November 14. All events run from 12pm - 10pm on the specified dates.

The tournament originated from the fabled Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and in this, the fifth year to be governed by FIFA, the new temporary home will be the paradise location of Jumeirah in the heart of new Dubai, where the masters of the game will battle it out on Arabian sands. This is only the second time that the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup has been held outside of Brazil (the other location being Marseille, France in 2008) and is the tournament's first time on Asian sand.

At the tournament, spectators will be entertained and inspired by sixteen of the best Beach Soccer teams in the world, including the UAE, Brazil, France, Portugal, Argentina, Costa Rica, Cote, D'Ivoire, El Salvador, Italy, Spain, Nigeria, Solomon Islands, Switzerland, Uruguay, and Russia as they take to the sands of Umm Suqueim in an epic battle of skill and stamina.
