The clock continues to count down to the eighth FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, and the excitement generated by this unique competition is beginning to mount in the host city of Espinho and throughout the beach soccer world.

Only 100 days now remain until the tournament’s opening day, 9 July, when the ball will start to roll on Espinho Beach, marking the start of a top-class sporting event that has already been embraced by its host city. That much was clear to see at the launch ceremony on 19 March, which drew a large and enthusiastic crowd.

Expectation continues to grow ahead of the big event, and it's little wonder. Portugal 2015 has all the makings of being a ground-breaking tournament, one that is set to raise the bar even higher than its hugely successful predecessor, Tahiti 2013.

This year’s world finals are taking shape fast, with several sides having already won through and the remainder due to book their places in the coming weeks. The fate of the qualifiers will be decided on 28 April, when the official draw for Portugal 2015 takes place, an occasion that will mark out the journey the 16 competing nations will have to make to win the coveted trophy.

For players and fans alike, the wait is nearly over. The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015 is just around the corner.
