Audu Adamu, Nigeria coach
We started to tire after about seven or eight minutes. We’ll just have to turn the page now and think about the next game. Russia are our toughest opponents in the group and we’re confident about what lies ahead, especially with the three players waiting for visas due to arrive on Saturday. That should make things a little easier for us.

Mikhail Likhachev, Russia coach
I’m pleased with the win, but in terms of the performance we only played well in the first period. In the second and third periods our concentration and organisation left something to be desired. I think it was a case of the boys perhaps feeling it was going to be an easy match after the first period, but that’s not how it turned out. Nigeria started to play and they made life hard for us, but it’s our aim to win the group now.
