Hector Petrasso, Argentina coach
Oman caught us cold when they scored. The team’s still young and they were a little bit tense. You have to bide your time and that’s what we did after conceding the opening goal. Half the squad has played in the World Cup before and that’s the reason why we were able to react. I’m pretty satisfied because it was very important to start off with a win. This is only the start, though. There’s plenty of work still to be done and quite a few adjustments to make.
Talib Al Thanawi, Oman coach
It was a good match and we gave our all, but unfortunately we made too many mistakes at the end. We were organised at the back and aggressive up front, though the players paid for their lack of experience. This is the first time they’ve played at this level, and the tournament has only just begun and there’s still everything to play for. We’ve got a game against El Salvador coming up now and we’re going to prepare for it with confidence. We’ll watch their game tonight and make sure we’re ready for D-Day.
