Who will succeed Cristiano Ronaldo, Hamit Altintop, Neymar and Miroslav Stoch and become the fifth winner of the FIFA Puskás Award? It’s up to you, the users of FIFA.com, along with those of francefootball.fr, to decide – and what a breathtaking dectet you have to choose from!

Peter Ankersen staked his claim in August. There appeared all but no danger of the then 22-year-old right-back extending Esbjerg’s 4-1 lead at home to Aarhus when the ball was lofted into his path by his twin brother Jakob in the dying minutes of their Danish Superliga game. Despite sprinting into the visitors’ area, however, Ankersen sublimely chested it past an opponent before, from an implausible angle less than two yards from the byline, thundering a Marco van Basten-esque volley into the top corner.

The 5-1 victory ensured Esbjerg, in their first season back in the top tier, finished Round 4 second in the 12-team division.

So, watch the above video of Ankersen’s stunner, and the other nine contenders, which FIFA.com will be presenting in alphabetical order in the near future, on FIFA on YouTube, and then vote for your favourite. The top three on 9 December will then enter another vote on the FIFA Puskas award section, from which the winner will lift the prestigious trophy at the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala on 13 January.
