The second FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala is nearly upon us. On 9 January, the creme de la creme of football will be heading to Zurich to see the world's best player crowned. There will also be awards on the same evening for the FIFA Women's World Player of the Year, FIFA Men’s Football Coach of the Year, FIFA Women’s Football Coach of the Year, the FIFA/FIFPro World XI and the FIFA Puskas Award (for the finest goal of 2011).
And you can be there, in the Fan Zone, to meet all the stars and VIPs on hand, such as Franz Beckenbauer, James Blunt, Stephane Chapuisat, Fabio Cannavaro, Ottmar Hitzfeld, Christian Karembeu, Adrian Knup, Kim Kulig, Lothar Matthaus, Hansi Muller, Gunter Netzer, Pele, Michel Platini, Lucas Radebe, Ronaldo, Hugo Sanchez, Shakira, Christine Sinclair, Hope Solo, Tinkabelle, Marco van Basten, George Weah, Hakan Yakin and many, many more.
When asked about his favourite footballing memory of 2011, FIFA.com user 'Slovensko' from Switzerland replied: "On a personal level, the greatest moment was the world player gala on 10 January. I got to experience it live – what an incredible atmosphere! It was unbelievable!" So why don't you follow in his footsteps?
The Fan Zone is right next to the red carpet in front of the Kongresshaus in Zurich. There will be plenty of surprises in store for anyone attending, and with a little luck, you might even get up close and personal with the stars and ask your favourite player for his or her autograph.
