Next Monday, 12 January, the winners of the 2008 FIFA World Player and FIFA Women's World Player awards will be revealed. The Gala will be attended by the stars of world football and hundreds of guests, and will be once more be hosted at the Zurich Opera House. Taking pride of place on the red carpet will be the nominees in the men's category: Kaka (Brazil), Lionel Messi (Argentina), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Fernando Torres and Xavi (Spain), and their female counterparts: Nadine Angerer and Birgit Prinz (Germany), Cristiane and Marta (Brazil) and Kelly Smith (England).

Unmissable spectacle
Our live and free coverage of what is sure to be an emotion-packed day begins at 15.30 (CET), when FIFA.com will bring you the pre-ceremony press conference with the female nominees. This will be followed at 16.30 (CET) with that of their male counterparts. You can see live and direct what the nominees have to say and how they are feeling ahead of the year's biggest awards ceremony - and all for free!

And there is more. Starting from 20.00 (CET), FIFA.com will broadcast in its entirety the Gala awards ceremony from the Zurich Opera House. You will be able to enjoy this feast of music and colour in all its glory as we reprise the footballing highlights of the past year. As well as the winners of the men's and women's awards, which will be announced at the end of the Gala, the recipients of the FIFA Fair Play and the FIFA Presidential awards will also be revealed.

During the course of the day we will have interviews with all the nominees from the red carpet and video clips of the best Gala moments. In addition, FIFA.com will bring you comments from a mix of footballing legends, current stars, past winners of the FIFA World Player accolade and the recipients of the principal awards (adidas Golden Ball, Golden Shoe and Golden Glove) from the FIFA tournaments in 2008. All this, plus breaking news and instant photos from the event, which will allow you to experience first hand the very best of Gala night.
