Football on the US Virgin Islands
Football has not yet taken root on the US Virgin Islands and ranks third in the popularity stakes after baseball and basketball. Even so, boys and girls are encouraged to play in different age categories at school. The programme for girls is booming and will soon lead to the formation of a women's league.
Goal project
The Goal Bureau was informed on 7 November 2005 of a training complex that was to be built in St. Thomas. The association is hoping to coach competitive players and teams by appointing a competent technical director. Apart from drawing up projects and a budget, it takes time and energy to try to convince the government authorities of the significance of the proposed targets for the association, which was founded only in 1992.
