The multipurpose centre was opened by Mohamed Bin Hammam, AFC President and chairman of the Goal Bureau, on 23 May 2003. Funds from Goal and the FIFA Financial Assistance Programme financed the project on land donated by the Government. Courses are held to train coaches, referees and administrators and training camps for the various national teams in Myanmar
. The centre incorporates the association headquarters. This enables day-to-day administrative business to be conducted smoothly. «The Goal project has built a bridge between top-flight football and the grass roots - a bridge that has been missing for the past 25 years. No doubt this will act as a catalyst for youth football,» commented association President U Thaung Htike with a smile when the centre opened its doors for the first time.
