Short Description:
The goal of FORMAÇÃO is to establish dialogue between distinct sectors of civil society and to develop public power by applying local development strategies that are sustainable and that focus on youths. The organisation endeavours to inspire youths to realise their potential as policy shaping citizens. CIP JC promotes the creation of youth organisations, the social and economic well-being of the cities, and the betterment of childhood development programmes. FORMAÇÃO points out the need to exercise citizenship-to propose ideas and solutions within one's community regarding education, health, politics, sport, and all other developmental elements. In its football-based programmes, the streetfootballworld network member (since 2005) uses the "Fútbol Callejero" (Street Football) method, a concept used by various organisations within the streetfootballworld network that tries to tap the full potential of football by applying special rules and rituals to the game.

Support in the Framework of the Football for Hope Movement:
Football for Hope is supporting FORMAÇÃO's activities to expand and strengthen an active street football network in the region of Maranhão and across north-eastern Brazil. The project, entitled "Futebol de Rua em Redes" (street football in networks), is part of the already existing "CIP Jovem Cidadão", an assembly of various projects focusing on education, arts and culture, vocational training, alphabetisation and environmental awareness. 44 young male and female trainers will be involved in work at public schools and rural communities in eleven municipalities of the Maranhão state that are characterised by a low Human Development Index. The project also intends to organize workshops across north-eastern Brazil at regular intervals.
