Short Description:
The name says it all. Coaching for Hope (CFH) is a UK based organisation with the mission to educate and empower children in the developing world through football. Its main work focuses on raising HIV/AIDS awareness in these high risk areas, thereby giving youths a more hopeful future. Coaching for Hope expands the capacity of local coaches and youth workers to deliver football and HIV/Aids education. Continual support is offered by the organisation throughout the process. CFH, a streetfootballworld network member since 2007, currently has programmes up and running in Burkina Faso and Mali and has run pilot schools in Bolivia, Tanzania, South Africa and Botswana. So far, over 100 coaches in Mali, Burkina Faso and Bolivia have received valuable training and support and over 800 youths have received at least 8 sessions of HIV/Aids prevention run by local Coaching for Hope graduates.

Support in the Framework of the Football for Hope Movement:
Football for Hope funding has been granted to enable Coaching for Hope's expanded involvement in Mali over a two year period. The process starts with twice yearly coaching courses run by experienced coaches from professional clubs in England using a specially developed manual for coaching with limited resources. Alongside the football coaching, HIV awareness courses are provided on themes such as protection, safe behaviour and transmission. Following these courses, the trained coaches then incorporate what they have learned in their everyday work as teaches, coaches and youth workers within Bamako and surrounding rural areas reaching males and females between the ages of 10 and 20. Once youths have received the CFH training, they are invited to take part in tournaments focussing on reproductive health awareness and in peer education schemes to further assist the dissemination of information on HIV/AIDS.
