In 2010, Yingli Solar became the first renewable energy company to sponsor the FIFA World Cup™. By joining the list of prestigious FIFA World Cup™ sponsors, Yingli Green Energy answered FIFA’s call to make the world’s most popular sport not only a celebration of the game but also a sign of respect for the planet that we inhabit.

In support of FIFA’s efforts to build a better future, Yingli Solar chose to provide solar energy technology for the 20 Football for Hope Centres that are being created in disadvantaged communities in Africa through the official 2010 FIFA World Cup™ campaign 20 Centres for 2010 .

Close collaboration from the beginning

To determine the best options for solar energy at the Football for Hope Centres, the Yingli Solar team works together with the respective stakeholders from an early stage. The first designs for the Football for Hope Centre are developed based on these discussions, in which Yingli Solar recommends the most sensible system that best supports the centres’ needs.

Subsequently, custom-tailored photovoltaic system solutions are shipped to the location and installed by local Yingli Solar engineers. The systems available for installation can provide power for pitch floodlighting, laptops, light bulbs, desktop fans, ceiling fans and air conditioning.
