There will be an informal meeting of the Sports Ministers of the European Union member states in Biarritz, France on 27 and 28 November.

The FIFA President will be part of a strong delegation from the Olympic and sporting movement led by Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, and including, among others, René Fasel, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation and the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations, Michel Platini, President of UEFA, Bernard Lapasset, President of the International Rugby Board, and Patrick Baumann, General Secretary of the International Basketball Federation.

"I am delighted to have this opportunity, together with my colleagues from the Olympic and sporting movement, to once again defend the specificity and autonomy of sport as well as issues such as the protection of minors and training clubs, and in particular, the principles and objectives of 6+5," said FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter.

FIFA and UEFA first attended an informal meeting of the EU Sports Ministers back in June 1999 under the German presidency of the European Union.
