After putting his signature to a landmark arrangement for the future of football in Cyprus, FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter will visit Iran where he will meet the country’s President Hassan Rouhani before flying to the Final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the UAE.

Before leaving the Home of FIFA in Zurich, the FIFA President took the time to chat with FIFA.com about his voyage as well as the forthcoming FIFA World Cup™ play-offs.

“The people of Iran are very happy to reach the World Cup,” said Blatter. “It will give a lot of emotions to this country. I will be honoured to meet President Rouhani and speak with him about the future of football in Iran.”

Taking a look at the upcoming qualifiers for Brazil 2014, he highlights two teams which have surprised him the most, as well as his verdict on the play-offs.

“They will provide passion and drama, but we should try to find a solution where at the end of qualification teams are in or out without the need to play-off.”
