FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has written to the President of the Norwegian FA in the wake of the terrorist attacks which affected the country on Friday 22 July.
Norwegians are mourning the victims of a massacre at an island youth camp in Utoeya and a bombing in the nation’s capital Oslo. At least 85 people died when a gunman opened fire at the Utoeya camp on Friday, just hours after a blast in the government district had killed seven. Another four people are still missing on the island.
In a letter from the FIFA President to Yngve Hallen, the President of the Norges Footballforbund, the President expressed his condolences upon hearing of the attacks: “It was with immense sadness that I learnt of the tragedy in Oslo and Utoeya which resulted in the loss of so many lives.
“On behalf of the worldwide football family, I extend my condolences and deepest sympathy to the people of Norway and its football family at this harrowing time.”
The FIFA President also wished the country "strength and fortitude for the days that lie ahead."
