Registration is now open for the upcoming congress “Sports, Business and Ethics – a Situation Analysis”, to be presented by FIFA’s subsidiary Early Warning System GmbH (EWS) together with “Swiss Sport Forum”, an event forum specialising in sports, economy and law, on Friday 5 April at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich.

The congress will feature renowned individuals including FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter, financial expert Oswald Grübel, Wall Street journalist Jens Korte, philosophy professor Peter Sloterdijk, law and ethics professor Mark Pieth, football manager Reiner Calmund as well as star footballer Michael Ballack.

EWS CEO Urs Scherrer says that more than ever, it is important to share ideas and develop practical strategies for protecting the integrity of sport.

“This congress is an opportunity to bring together key stakeholders and discuss topical matters relating to ethics in sport,” says Scherrer.

“The threats to sport are diverse. Match-fixing is one such issue that has made headlines around the world in recent weeks. It highlights the need to strengthen cooperation between sporting organisations and the relevant legal authorities to tackle this serious scourge.”

The subject of match-fixing related to sports betting will be addressed by Ralf Mutschke, FIFA director of Security, Michaela Ragg, Interpol Assistant Director Integrity of Sport and World Lottery Association President Jean-Luc Moner-Banet among others.

Sky Chief Commentator Marcel Reif will host the full-day event, starting at 9:30am.

The congress, which takes place for the third time already on this specific issue, is aimed at national and international sports associations, sports clubs and officials, betting organisations, marketing experts, public authorities, academics and members of the media.
