When choosing a product, it is important to consider its compatibility with the site and the builders’ requirements. Before a pitch is certified as a FIFA RECOMMENDED 1 or 2 Star installation, the artificial surface must pass a series of laboratory tests.

First step towards certification

The laboratory tests focus on the composition of the product as well as well as its seam strength, weather resistance and service life. There are also tests to check the interaction between the ball, player and surface.

Passing the laboratory tests is just the first requirement, however, as FIFA RECOMMENDED certification is ultimately awarded in respect of the football turf installation rather than the individual football turf product in order to ensure the quality of the sports ground as a whole.
