If you share a passion for football and photography, then the Sony Campaign Award is providing you with the chance to win a dream trip for two to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, complete with flights, accommodation and match tickets. That is just part of the wonderful prize on offer to amateur photographers, who have until 28 February to submit an image that ";captures the spirit and beauty that comes from football, but is seen from an unusual and unexpected point of view";.
The winner of the Campaign Award, which is free to enter, will also receive two VIP tickets to attend the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards ceremony on the 16 April (including flights and two nights' accommodation in a luxury hotel on the famous Croisette), a Sony α900 DSLR camera and lens, and the opportunity to be one of the photographers used in Sony's forthcoming digital imaging FY09 project.
Additionally, the top 50 images entered into the competition will be exhibited at Festival @ The Sony World Photography Awards, which will take place in Cannes in April. The winner will be announced on 20 March 2009.
Sony, an Official FIFA Partner and sponsor of both South Africa 2010 and the UEFA Champions League, believes there is no spectacle on Earth that can compare with the rich, colourful, turbo-charged football experience. Consequently, it has opened this new category for the benefit of amateur photographers.
The judging will be chaired by the internationally celebrated sports photographer Delly Carr, and will also involve renowned names from the industry, including Tom Stoddart and Elliott Erwitt.
So, if you're an amateur photographer, employ your imagination and talent wisely and the aforementioned prize could be on its way to you.
