FIFA’s numismatic programme has been attracting the interest of many national mints all over the world since 2004. Coins, medals and tokens are traditionally issued to commemorate FIFA’s signature events and the FIFA World Cup™ in particular.

FIFA re-appointed the company MDM (Münzhandelsgesellschaft Deutsche Münze) for the development, promotion and roll-out of the official international commemorative coin programme for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™. With their comprehensive expertise and experience, MDM ensured the success of FIFA’s efforts to bring together the world of numismatics and football fans everywhere as part of the build-up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™.

The official commemorative coin collection for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ offered by MDM included official gold and silver commemorative coins from forty countries around the world, as well as the official silver commemorative medals featuring designs inspired by Brazilian culture and history. You can take a look at the FIFA-approved official commemorative coin collection in the gallery in the side bar.

At the same time, the Banco Central do Brasil prepared the host country with the Official Brazilian Commemorative Coins of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™. Launched in January 2014, the range of coins came in copper-nickel, silver and gold.
