FIFA Congress in pictures

Travelling in time is a dream that most people would love to come true. And while FIFA.com does not quite have the power to build a time machine, the official website of the governing body of football can take you back in time with a collection of photos detailing the history of the FIFA Congress - which is being held for the 63rd time in Mauritius on 30 and 31 May.

Ever since the first Congress was held in 1904 to mark the birth of FIFA, the governing body has met on regular occasions to take the necessary decisions for the good of a game that is in constant evolution. Travel with us from Paris to Budapest, with stops in Tokyo, Berne, Amsterdam, Nassau, Stockholm and Rome – all major cities and mythical locations which have played host to this event over the years.

See photos of German chancellor Angela Merkel who was present in 2006 in Munich, French FIFA World Cup™-winner Lilian Thuram at the 2001 Congress in Buenos Aires and the smile of US star and 1991 and 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup™-winner Julie Foudy which lit up the Congress in 2009 in the Bahamas.
