FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has written to Somalia’s FA President Nur Mohamud to express his concolences for the car bomb that ripped through the capital of Mogadishu today, killing at least 57 people (with the death toll expected to rise).

“I would like to express my profound sympathy with the families of those killed in this terrible attack,” Blatter said in a letter on the evening on 4 October, the same day of the blast.

Among those injured were Somalia Football Federation General Secretary Said Arab and national team player Abdulahi Isse Mahmoud. “Our thoughts are with both of these members of the Somali football family and other person injured in this tragedy.”
