The revised football quality testing manual took a major step forward when the licensees of the FIFA Quality Programme for Footballs had their annual meeting at ISPO 2014 in Munich.

Following extensive research with renowned universities, test institutes and external specialists as well as intensive and productive discussions with members of the ball industry over the past two years, the 1996 testing manual has been fully updated.

Special emphasis was placed on scrutinising all of the tests and making adjustments based on the results of the player perception survey and the latest research findings in order to improve the quality of the game.

The results will now be submitted to the IFAB’s panel of experts for final discussion, the decisions of which will form the basis of all future FIFA quality tests for footballs from early 2015 onwards.
