F-MARC has been for long in contact with the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) operating in Kenya. MYSA participated in a FUTURO III course in Nairobi in 2009 and also at the 3rd International Football Medicine Conference in Sun City in February 2010.
MYSA is a self-help youth programme linking sports with environmental clean-ups, AIDS prevention, leadership training and other community service activities involving approximately 20,000 young people in the slums of Nairobi. They are also the host of the Football for Hope Centre in Nairobi opened in March 2011.
The “11 for Health” will be tested in a pilot study with 400 -500 children to start in May 2011. Based on the results of this pilot study the project group will decide on the continuation and expansion of the project.
