The Uzsoki Hospital Department of Orthopaedics, together with Semmelweis University Heart Centre and selected experts in football medicine, have been accredited as a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence. These are public institutions directed by Prof. Làszló Hangody and Prof. Béla Merkely.
The hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities feature six digital operating theatres, linked to an education centre, 70 in-patient beds, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), an electrophysiology laboratory, an invasive coronary unit, and an intensive coronary care unit (16 beds with central monitor approach).
These clinics provide a comprehensive service for football players with medical problems. For patients who need further expertise, prompt referrals to other clinics of the university are possible.
Our doctors and physiotherapists provide professional medical support for several elite handball and water polo clubs and individual athletes as well as for the Hungarian national water polo, handball and kayaking teams. They have also been involved with different national football teams, including the Hungarian senior men’s and women’s teams and youth teams.
