The Duke Sports Medicine Center comprises four world-class programmes: the Duke Sports Medicine Clinic, Duke Sports Medicine Physical Therapy, the Michael Krzyzewski Human Performance Lab (K-Lab) and the Duke Sports Performance Programme. Each programme brings an important element to patient care.
The DSMC Clinic and Physical Therapy offer a coordinated programme geared toward diagnosis, evaluation and operative/non-operative treatment, while the K-Lab and the Duke Sports Performance Programme provide valuable information on injury prevention and performance enhancement for athletes and physically active individuals. The combination of programmes creates a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment and education of patients and aids us in the development of the future leaders in sports medicine through rigorous educational programmes and research.
Duke Sports Medicine physicians strive to provide the highest level of patient care reflective of the sophisticated techniques and leading-edge research offered at Duke. The multidisciplinary approach, which links the expertise of specialists in orthopaedic surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery, radiology, physical therapy and orthopaedic nursing ensures that athletes receive the most appropriate and responsive treatment.
Duke’s Sports Medicine Center also offers the highest-quality services for women’s sports medicine, paediatric sports medicine, sports psychology, primary care/non-orthopaedic related medical care and rheumatology care. Combined, these services allow us to treat and prevent conditions due to injury, disease or the normal process of aging or disuse that affects the ability to participate in sports or exercise or simply maintain an active lifestyle.
