It is with great satisfaction that the FIFA/CIES International University Network notes that its academic partners in South America are now reaping the benefits of closer and more effective collaboration. In this respect, the new programmes have gathered a record number of students in Argentina, Brazil and Chile.

The Universidad Catolica Argentina, which started the ninth edition of the FIFA/CIES programme in the beautiful classrooms of its executive education centre 'San Jose', welcomed 49 students, many of whom are elite athletes. This success is due to the excellent reputation of the programme in Argentina and from ‘word of mouth’ recommendations.

In Chile, the Universidad Santo Tomás, which is now in its fifth year, managed the feat of attracting 29 new students. This is in a country where training in the field of sports management is still embryonic.

Finally, the Fundacao Getulio Vargas, partner of the CIES since 2010, launched its first online programme with nearly 100 students selected from several hundred applications.

The CIES wishes every success to all of the new students and hopes the programmes will provide significant benefits in terms of academic knowledge and offer the opportunity of effective networking
