Costa Rica: Launch of the 3rd FIFA/CIES Programme

Partner of CIES since 2008, the Universidad de Costa Rica has officially launched the 3rd edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme of sport management. The courses will start in February 2011.

The Programme enables people from various professional and sporting horizons to familiarise themselves with modern management tools in key areas such as marketing, law, management, sponsoring, communication, finances and event management. Adapted to regional and national realities, it also offers the opportunity to attend lectures given by international FIFA/CIES experts.

The UCR/FIFA/CIES Programme offers excellent tools that I can use in my duties as sports administrator. Actually, I have recommended it to a few colleagues” commented Arturo Mc Guiness, alumni of the second edition of the Programme. Rodrigo Abello, another alumni of the Programme, added: “One of the most positive aspects of the Programme is the elaboration of projects in each of the module... It was very interesting for me... as we had to put into practice what we were studying at the same time.”

The International University Network created in the framework of the FIFA/CIES Programme comprises 14 universities, namely, the Universidad Catóoica Argentina in Buenos Aires, the Universidad Santo Tomás in Santiago (Chile), the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar (Senegal), the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth (South Africa), the University of South Africa in Pretoria, the Cairo University in Egypt, the Universidad de Costa Rica in San Jose, the University of the West Indies in Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago), the Birzeit University in Ramallah (Palestine), the Bahcesehir University in Istanbul (Turkey), the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine in Kiev, the University King Juan Carlos in Madrid (Spain), the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas (Venezuela) and the Fundacao Getulio Vargas en Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
