The Bahcesehir University presented certificates to the first 21 Turkish students of the FIFA/CIES Programme of Sport Management on 26 June.

The graduation ceremony that took place on the wonderful premises of the University near the Bosphorus, ended seven months of courses related to key areas of modern sport management. A few days before, the 15 men and 6 women participating in the first edition of the Programme had presented their final group projects.

The latter dealt with crucial issues such as "The Economic Impact and Contribution of Sports Activities", "The situation of the Olympic Atatürk Stadium", "New Perspectives and Models for Media Rights", "Sponsorship and Women's Football" and "The Turkish Sport Dance Federation - Analysis and Suggestions".

Bertrand Reeb, CIES president, declared: "Our partnership continues a long tradition of high level cooperation between Switzerland and Turkey since the latter adopted the Swiss Civil Code. We are happy to extend this tradition to sport management, an essential element in today's society of entertainment and leisure."

From her side, Prof Dr Deniz Ülke Aribogan, rector, emphasised the excellent relations between the University and the International Centre for Sport Studies. She asked for this cooperation to be further reinforced, and for the development of new synergies within the framework of the FIFA/CIES Programme. The next edition of the Programme will start in October 2009.
