The FMA (FIFA Master Alumni) Association is in its tenth year of existence as an independent association administered by volunteer alumni. The FMA Association plays a crucial role in connecting over 380 alumni and current students to the FIFA Master programme and the sports community. Bringing alumni together is at the heart of its mission and identity. The FMA focuses its energy in enhancing member benefits and in organising social activities.
Some additional achievements of the FMA Association include: establishing an interactive website as the key communication platform for all alumni, creating mentorship and career coach programmes to connect current postgraduates with alumni, developing FMA Regional Networks enabling alumni to strengthen relationships and actively promote the FIFA Master on a local level.
To make the association a highly effective network platform and organization, the FMA Committee holds a world gathering every two years during a major sporting event. In 2006, the FMA Association organised the 1st FMA Alumni World Gathering at the FIFA World Cup™ in Germany. Travelling from 40 different nations across six continents, it was a momentous weekend for over 100 alumni in attendance who came to reunite with friends and meet other alumni from different FIFA Master editions. The 2nd FMA Alumni World Gathering took place in Basel, Switzerland, during EURO 2008. The 3rd gathering was in Durban, South Africa, also as part of the FIFA World Cup™ and the 4th one was during the 2012 Olympic Games, in London. Next stop will be once again at a FIFA World Cup™. This time it will be in Brazil, in 2014.
The FMA plans to continue this opportunity, further strengthening its mission as an organisation.
