What is your fondest footballing memory?
Japan beat Iran at the play-off of the Preliminary round of the FIFA World Cup France 1998 in Malaysia on 16 November 1997 and qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time ever. At that time, I was General Secretary of the Japan FA.

What has been your biggest disappointment in football?
Japan missing the qualification for the FIFA World Cup USA 1994, due to a late equalizer from Irak in Doha, Qatar. Among the Japanese football supporters, this game was remembered as "the tragedy of Doha."
