FIFA and its six confederations met at the Home of FIFA in Zurich on 12 and 13 February 2009 for a workshop devoted to women's football. The participants included FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter and CONCACAF General Secretary Chuck Blazer.
The two-day event featured wide-ranging debate and discussion on a variety of issues relevant to the women's game. Keynote topics included the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Chile 2008, the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup New Zealand 2008, and the next major FIFA tournaments to be staged in 2010 and 2011.
Presentations by a number of FIFA departments and representatives of all six confederations provided the starting point for an engrossing and productive exchange of opinion.
