Win in Africa - From Medicine for Football to Football for Health

To all those taking care of African football players

The FIFA Medical Committee and the FIFA Medical Assessment and Research Centre (F-MARC) focus on prevention and improving standards of care for football players worldwide. With this unique medical conference prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, FIFA wants to leave a medical legacy for African players, their caretakers and everyone on the continent.

The programme presents an “African approach” to football medicine and health and consists of two parts: On the first day, “Medicine for Football” aims at improving standards of care and prevention for players at all levels. On the second day, “Football for Health” explores the use of football as a means to improve the mental and physical health of not only players, but also their communities. You are invited to present your work. A “Football for Health” Award is offered to the best presenter.

On both days, a total of ten different workshops are offered covering a broad spectrum from very practical examination and diagnostic skills over emergency treatment to prevention programmes and how to conduct scientific studies.

We therefore invite African physicians, physiotherapists and health care providers engaged in the care of football players at all levels, any other physicians and care providers interested in football and the “Football for Health” idea as well as NGOs using football as an educational tool in prevention and health care to attend and join us in our discussions. Become part of the FIFA football medical network in Africa and the world!
