The President of the Palestinian FA and the President of the Palestinian Olympic Committee Jibril M. Rajoub used the occasion of an IOC meeting in Lausanne to make a courtesy visit to FIFA President Blatter on Tuesday afternoon (22 July 2014) in Zurich. Following the meeting the two Presidents issued the following statements:

“I am very much concerned with this situation in the region. We are heartbroken to learn that people from the football community have been killed. FIFA and I personally deplore this situation and any form of violence. The football community came together at the FIFA World Cup to deliver a message of peace at all 64 matches. And we are united in hoping for peace in this region and across the world," said the FIFA President.

“I appreciate the commitment of the FIFA President to develop and invest in football in Palestine, despite the difficulties we face. We believe football should remain a tool to build bridges between people. I am very saddened by the loss of Palestinian life in the current conflict but I am still optimistic that peace will prevail in the Middle East and that the Palestinian people will realize our dream of an independent, sovereign state alongside our neighbours, including the State of Israel, according to international legitimacy,” explained Jibril M. Rajoub.
